Stage Actress Files Suit Against Bayer After Yaz-Related Illness | Yaz Injury Lawsuit Attorneys
Brenda Hamilton, a stage actress who performs in the Broadway show Wicked, has filed a lawsuit against Bayer. She alleges that Bayer's Yaz birth-control pill caused her to have a stroke at age 27. Hamilton had no history of health problems before she was affected by the stroke in May 2007.Hamilton's suit says that Bayer was aware of the fact that Yaz posed greater health risks than other birth-control pills but withheld that information from doctors and patients. In addition to the risk of strokes, Yaz users are also said to be at a higher risk for blood clots.
About 1,100 lawsuits have been filed in the United States against Bayer because of health complications caused by Yaz. The pharmaceutical company has routinely defended Yaz, which accounted for $1.5 billion in sales in 2009.
