Yaz birth control problems - new study | Yaz lawsuit attorneys

According to www.ClinicalTrials.gov, the Center for Epidemiology and Health Research is conducting a study on women who have been taking oral contraceptives, also known as birth control pills, which contain Drospirenone. Found in Yaz birth control, and it's generics Yasmin and Ocella, Drospirenone is a drug that has been shown to increase the risk for deep vein thrombosis (DVT, also known as blood clots), stroke, and other serious health problems, according to the Yaz product information. Bayer Corporation, the maker of Yaz, has been under scrutiny for not sufficiently warning patients of the dangers of the drug in their advertisements.

In response to this scrutiny, the Center for Epidemiology and Health Research of Germany, in collaboration with Bayer, is studying approximately 80,000 women who have been taking ocral contraceptives that contain Drospirenone. The study is called the International Active Surveillance Study of Women Taking Oral Contraceptives. They are currently accepting participants.

"compares the short- and long-term risks of a 24-day regimen of a drospirenone-containing oral contraceptive with the risks of established oral contraceptives in a study population that is representative for the actual users of the individual preparations."
